New Member of Newlyn Society of Artists

I am really excited to announce that i have been accepted into the Newlyn Society of Artists after the selection panel met earlier this month.

The NSA is a group of about 85 professional artists who either live in the South West or have strong connections with the area. The membership is composed of artists working across the full range of contemporary media including painting, sculpture, photography, printmaking, video/digital, site specific and performance.

Originally founded in 1896 by a group of painters to organize exhibitions at the Newlyn Art Gallery. The gallery, built by benefactor John Passmore Edwards on land donated by C.N. Le Grice, was given to the artists and in the following years the N.S.A became an intrinsic part of the arts in the South West. Previous members have included amongst others Peter Lanyon, Bernard Leach, Patrick Heron, Wilhelmina Barns-Graham and Terry Frost.

The society organises 2 group exhibitions a year and will be curating an exhibition this October at Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens in a new, purpose built, contemporary gallery space. I will update you with details of the Autumn Exhibition soon!
