reflections

As an artist i enjoy playing with new media. Recently i made a series of paintings called Bark/Space, in which i took  patterns made by trees casting shadows as a starting point for mark making on canvas.

Playing with acrylic inks on canvas again, i am exploring patterns created by reflections on water after i made a series of trips to the cornish coast. Here is the first painting in this new series.

In this series i want to further explore  mark-making, pigment, gesture and the process of transition when working on a theme. Eventually I’d like these paintings to escape their subject/source and stand alone as images. For the paint to stand as a subject in it’s own right.
