I’ve been working on some new abstract paintings which take inspiration from the land/seascape around me in Cornwall. These paintings are made using acrylic and metallic inks on canvas.

I really love the layers of land and sea and land which are all around me here in the estuaries near Penryn and Falmouth. Walking along the footpaths next to the sea here, i see the estuaries – creating horizontal layers of sky/land/sea/land. These walks have fuelled lots of paintings recently – both landscapes at night with heavy, subdued blues and more vibrant canvases of land and sea during the day. The light here seems to make everything sing and bounce.
